I absolutely love gardens, I love the idea of gardens, I love how it feels to sit near a garden. Yet, gardening is not one of my favorite things to do.
You see, I’m not one for the most patient people, so I don’t enjoy how long it takes before you can lavish in its beauty. Now, I know some/most people are more patient than I am but humor me, this is going somewhere:
So gardening…
⏰ It seems like HOURS of digging deep in the dirt to get all the rocks and crap out.
🚜Then, adding the compost and tilling it all to enrich the soil.
🥵Sweating to death.
😰Waking up sore the next day
⏰Getting back to work.
🥵Sweating to death.
💰Spending a ton on all the new plants, planting them, watering them.
😖Maybe a few don’t fair the transition.
🌾Then GAH, the weeds start growing.
💦Watering, weeding, watering, weeding, watering, weeding…
♾But FINALLY after what feels like an eternity….
🌸🌼🌷🌺THE GARDEN IS FLOURISHING AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! 🌺🌷🌼🌸
And what I have found is that my thoughts about gardening are a LOT of people’s unconscious thoughts about personal development.
Let’s compare to self-development:
🚜Digging in the dirt gathering up the rocks: You getting really honest with yourself, uncovering the issues, getting clear on what is holding you back. IE. Beliefs, Mindset, Environment, Self-sabotage, etc.
Adding the compost: The healing, nourishing, rebuilding part of your process.
🥵Sweating: Yes, it is hard work to change your norm to challenge yourself and move outside of your comfort zone.
💰Buying the flowers: It can be a significant investment for a coach, program/s, books, etc.
😖The plants that don’t make it: Testing what works and what doesn’t. Failure is just feedback. It won’t all stick and that is okay.
💦Watering and weeding: Keeping up with the work, self-care, being diligent.
🌾Weeds: Shit will come up, just like the weeds do and if you don’t deal with it, it will counteract all the work you have done.
💦Keep watering, expect you’ll have to weed again.
😑It will take time to reap the rewards of the effort and sometimes it may not feel worth it.
🌸🌼🌷🌺 I PROMISE YOU IT IS WORTH IT. EVEN IF IT TAKES YEARS FOR YOU TO GET WHERE YOU HOPE TO BE, IT IS WORTH THE EFFORT 🌺🌷🌼🌸
Can you relate to my analogy at all? Totally cheesy 🧀 I know, but a lot of my clients say it helps keep them motivated so they don’t lose momentum when things may feel like they aren’t changing fast enough.
So, tell me, what phase are you in?
Do you desire to be further along? Could you use some support and guidance?
